Job Description

Abbott seeks a Powerhouse Engineer for second-shift operations at its Columbus manufacturing facility. The role involves learning energy center systems through classroom instruction and on-the-job training, with the goal of obtaining Ohio Steam Engineer certification and operating critical plant infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Complete classroom training in industrial maintenance and boiler operation to prepare for Ohio Steam Engineers Exam
• Operate energy center systems safely and efficiently, including boiler, chilled water, compressed air, and wastewater systems
• Perform preventative and demand maintenance, execute work orders in Maximo CMMS, and maintain tools and equipment
• Monitor process deviations, ensure regulatory compliance with FDA GMP and OSHA standards, and support capital projects

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
• Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer license
• Strong mathematics, written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical troubleshooting ability and capacity to learn complex technical processes
• Experience with FDA, cGMP, or highly regulated manufacturing environments (preferred)
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards for infant formula or nutritional ingredients (preferred)
